How old do I have to be to use the centre?
To complete a standard registration at the centre you must be 18 or older and an experienced climber, once registered you can sign in up to 2 novices under your supervision of any age.
If you are between 12 and 17 years you will need to successfully complete an assessment course in order to climb unsupervised.
How do I register to use the climbing centre?
Adults with climbing experience will need to complete a standard registration form to climb unsupervised. To do this you must be able to put on a harness correctly, know how to tie in to the rope and how to belay using an appropriate device.
Registration is free for anyone taking one of our introductory courses.
Do I need to have climbed before?
You do not need to have any experience, simply sign up for a taster session and have a go under the watchful eye of an experienced instructor.
Alternatively if you have an experienced friend they can sign you in as a novice under their care. You can then learn to climb safely from them.
What gear do I need?
If you register for one of our introductory courses the equipment will be provided free of charge.
If you are climbing independently you can hire all the equipment you need from reception including harness, belay device, shoes and helmets.
There will be in situ top ropes on some routes. To lead climb you will need your own rope. |
